Dog Redemption Process

Per NYS Agriculture and Markets Law:
Each town/village/city is required to set and charge a redemption fee to the owner for the release of a dog picked up by its Dog Control Officer. Prior to the release of any stray hold dog to the owner, the following conditions must be met: up-to-date proof of license and up-to-date proof of rabies vaccination.
All of Elmore's dog stray-hold contracts are based on town law; NYS law requires a miminmum 5 day hold period. Any dogs not redeemed within the stray-hold period, will transfer to from the town hold to Elmore SPCA and will be made available for adoption.

Town of Peru First 24 hours $50, $25 each day after, 7 days
Town of Schuyler Falls Flat rate $25, 7 days
